It was written inspired by his 1814 journey travelling through Switzerland to Italy, on which he kept a diary of the events and his impressions of the trip. Illustrated with in-text engravings. Written by Samuel Rogers, a Romantic English poet who is often overshadowed by his contemporaries - Byron, Wordsworth, and Coleridge. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front free endpaper, 'Emma Clapham with her Uncle John's Love, June 1848'. In a full calf binding.
