xvi,(2),19-840 pp. Octavo. Bound in the original maroon red cloth with with black stamped decoration on the front board. Gilt title on spine. Beveled boards. Original patterned endpapers. Text block with marbled edges. Over 200 engravings both in text and a single full page map. Very slight fading to the spine. Slight wear to the edges otherwise a much superior copy of the book. Arctic Biblio. 13318. A general history of all arctic exploration from the Vikings to Delong. I suspect the book came out to capitalize on the Delong Expedition and the interest in the Expedition being lost. Overall it is a very think and somewhat poorly produced production which is very familiar in Subscription titles like this.
