Relatively, clean unmarked pages. One page loose, showing an auction (front page of issue no. 113). Light center crease where the journals were initially folded down the middle. Old leather spine lacking, metal spine backing exposed, front board starting. Cloth boards. Engravings throughout. Primarily cartoons, caricatures, etc. Mostly devoted to theatre, fashion, culture of the age. Artists who contributed to Journal Amusant during this period include: Marcelin, Darjou, Carlo Gripp, Baric, Riou, Randon, Draner, Alfred Grevin, Paul Hadol, Nadar, Ledrad, Pelcoq, Gustave Dore, etc. (Note: I didn't check references to determine how many engravings these artists contributed to this collection.)
