Sir Henry Rider Haggard was a British writer specialising in romantic adventure novels often set in exotic settings, predominantly Africa, and is considered the father of the 'lost world' literary genre. This work, in particular, is considered one of the earliest examples of the genre. In the publisher's original cloth binding with illustrative details and gilt titling. Externally, smart.
