The diary of Kinwun Mingyi U Kaung, a Myanmar (Burmese) chief minister and colonial civil servant during the reigns of King Mindon and Thibaw who attempted to westernise the Burmese kingdom's bureaucracy into a more democratic system. He was accused as being used as a decoy to allow Britain to win the Third Anglo-Burmese War. These diaries offer insight into his life during his travels to London and back in 1872-1873. Edited by Professor PE Maung Tin, a Myanmar (Burmese) scholar and educator. In the original quarter cloth binding with paper covered boards. Externally, smart with light shelf wear and rubbing to the extremities and the odd mark to the board. With homemade brown paper dust wrappers. Internally, firmly bound.
