Beschreibung
5 11/16" x 8 1/2", 294 pp., blue cloth with large gilt illustration on front cover, gilt titling to spine. A very rare Ku Klux Clan title in Very Good condition or better. Eleven illustrations, many full-page, including frontispiece portrait of Lt. General Nathan Bedford Forrest. The history of the KKK from 1865 to 1940, a history the average reader would be shocked to read, given the image of the Klan in current popular belief. This is a very thorough chronology of events, with insight into why the Klan was formed and the men - many of them quite famous and respected - who formed and guided the KKK from the ruins of the Civil War to the mid-20th century. This copy in excellent condition with a perfect interior (no writing, soiling, stains or other issues, just a bit of age-toning to the endpapers). The binding is quite solid and the cover is better than very good, with the front gilt illustration in perfect condition; the spine gilt 'KKK' retains only 35% or so but the 'By Col. W. Jones' at the foot of the spine is intact. There is some bumping and wear at the spine ends and a bit at the corners; otherwise a Near Fine copy. See the photo. Other photos available upon request.
