Large folio (14.5 x 11 ins); pp 448; illustrations throughout. Original pictorial card covers, rubbed along edges of the spine, corners creased with point of one lower corner knocked off. A VG+ copy. The WEC was an American counterculture magazine and product catalogue published several times a year between 1968 and 1972 by Stewart Brand. This is the British edition given over to accessing products and services in the UK. The magazine featured essays and articles, but was primarily focused on product reviews. The editorial focus was on self-sufficiency, ecology, alternative education, "do it yourself" (DIY), and holism, and featured the slogan "access to tools". Although WEC reviewed a wide range of products (clothing, books, machines, seeds, etc.), it did not sell any of the products directly. Instead, the vendor's contact information was listed alongside the item and its review. This is why, while not a regularly published periodical, numerous editions and updates were required to keep price and availability information up to date. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 19960

Zustand: Good. Large softcover, approximately 14½â à 10¾â .ÂThe covers of this copy show wear consistent with handling and age: spine creasing with chipping at the ends, edge-rubbing, and surface scuffs front and back. The text block is complete, with pages showing the expected browning of the paper stock. The binding remains intact, and the interior is clean without markings. A compelling artifact of its moment, carrying forward the spirit of self-reliance and curiosity that shaped a generationâs relationship to tools and information. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 416

Soft cover. Zustand: VG. First Edition Later Printing. The bible of the counterculture/environmental movement in the early '70s when the first Earth Day got people thinking about being green & sustainable. Increasingly scarce as the first hippies (Boomers) pass on. This is the FIRST EDITION, Eighth Printing (Aug.1972) of the Last Catalog, which combined the earlier Catalog & the Supplement, which were published alternatively since 1968. About 1/3 of the material in this Last Catalog is new. They really did think this one would be the last ("This is really the LAST Catalog."), but it would continue to be printed for a few years! In 448 pages, with a 1967 picture of the dark side of Earth's moon taken by Apollo 4 on front cover, with the word, "Evening, Thanks Again," underneath photo & $5.00 cover price. An extremely large (elephant folio) softcover with black & white decorative wrappers, this copy is in VG condition (we are also offering a Good- (minus) copy for less). This copy is exceptionally clean & well-preserved, with a tight, square ginding & some light creasing to front cover. Missing lower-outer corner of back cover. There is insect damage (white scraped spots) all over the outside, heaviest to spine & back cover: front cover just has a few spots! Pages tanned, heavier around edges, commensurate with paper quality & age. Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same day shipping on all orders received by 2pm weekdays (Pacific time); later orders, weekends, & holidays ship very next business day. SORRY: NO expedited domestic or international shipping without substantial (at least double) postage increase. BL1-T. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 021712
