Compiled from the private journals and other papers of Commander Raphael Semmes C.S.N and other Officers The book records the history of the Confederate Brigs during the American Civil War and has two appendicies at end, namely The Alabama in Table Bay and Correspondence concerning the Tuscaloosa .
