8vo. 30pp. With the half title. In modern wraps with label on front. Leaves clean and bright, some minor soiling to final page. Very good. Rev. Roberts calls for action against the rebellion. *The present Circumstances of this Nation, threatened with Evils of the most formidable Kind, and alarmed with Apprehension of the most horrible Danger, necessarily call upon us to quicken the Ardor of public Spirit, to stir up every latent Spark of Love for Liberty, and mutually to receive and Spread the glorious Flame of Zeal for the common Cause, which at the same time that it warms only and enlivens ourselves, will effectually scorch and consume our Enemies. Deplorably funk and degenerate must we indeed be, if we can fit unmoved and unconcerned when our dear Country is likely to be involved in all the Guilt and Horror of a Civil War: When the mad Sons of Violence and Plunder, led on by a patch'd up Hero, a base Pretender, making his last desperate Puth to obtain a Throne, from which, by the most just and solemn Laws, he stands for ever excluded, threaten to overwhelm us with Ruin and Desolation, and make our Religion, our Laws, our Liberties, every thing dear and valuable to us, as Britons, and Protestants, fall a Sacrifice to their unjust, cruel, blood-thirsty and implacable Resentment. *ESTCT170389. The pamphlet was so popular, it went through at least 6 editions in 1745 alone. [Jacobite Rebellion, 1745-1746]. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 003414
