An unhappy copy of what is apparently the first edition (cheap paper issue): covers nicked and chipped, backstrip lacking, first leaf (pp. [i]-[ii] = blank and limitation leaf ["Second edition / limited to 200 copies."]) lacking, the cheap paper browning from the edge, quite brittle and fragile, surviving first two leaves (pp. [iii]-[iv] = title-page, pp. 1-2) chipped and detached, sewing of other gatherings perished - but those, interestingly, from p. 11, unopened. A candidate for rebinding? "She married Clifford Chatterley in 1917, when he was home for a month on leave. They had a month's honeymoon. Then he went back to Flanders: to be shipped over to England again six months later, more or less in bits. Constance, his wife, was then twenty-three years old, and he was twenty-nine.".
