Original Photograph. Original silverprint on Studio Card. Photograph measures 11 X 18.5 cm. On 12 X 19 CM card with rounded corners. Two images printed side by side with title at bottom. The photographers information is printed on the card below the image. Image is slightly washed out. Photo and card show some rubbing and soiling. Top right corner of the card and photo are a little worn. The bottom left corner is creased. Tape residue on rear of card. A nice copy. very good The image to the right depicts a large cannon sitting in the snow with a building behind. The image to the right shows man standing at a stone archway. Fort Garry, also known as Upper Fort Garry, was a Hudson's Bay Company trading post at the confluence of the Red and Assiniboine rivers in what is now downtown Winnipeg. In 1873, the city of Winnipeg was established and the name Fort Garry was no longer used. In 1881-1884 the majority of the fort was demolished to straighten Main Street.
