Bookplate to the front paste down. Illustrated with illuminated letters and 21 woodcuts, as well as the dolphin-and-anchor device of the Chiswick Press. Collated, complete. A collection of Latin verse following the Christian calendar of Sundays, Feast Days and Holy Days, compiled by William John Loftie (1839-1911), a British clergyman who wrote on diverse subjects such as the history of London, travel, art and architecture. Illustrated with lovely woodcuts in the Pre-Raphaelite style by Robert Bateman (1842 1922). In a full vellum binding. Externally smart, apart from some darkening to the spine and a little splitting to the rear joint. Both hinges are strained but holding firm. Internally, firmly bound.
