The Leisure Hour, 1884, London, 56, Paternoster Row, and 164, Piccadilly, 764 pp, half leather, 10.75 x 8 , 4to. In good condition. Moderate wear to extremities with red rot at tips and joints. Splitting at top seam of front joint from wear. Spine abraded with dryness and light creasing. Marbled boards are lightly faded, toned and rubbed. Green end papers clean and bright. Free of markings or ownership. Front gutter tender. Internally good with light toning and minor foxing. Binding tight and intact. Please see photos. The Leisure Hour was a British general-interest periodical of the Victorian era which ran weekly from 1852 to 1905. It was the most successful of several popular magazines published by the Religious Tract Society, which produced Christian literature for a wide audience. Beautifully illustrated.
