The drawings are in fact all that remains of the studies, research, details, insights and conceptual sketches prepared by Leonardo and various of his students for the Last Supper; a work whose significance has grown over the centuries, which has become, despite the gradual deterioration caused by its own fragility, despite the damage and ruin caused by external historical events, one of the highest expressions of universal art, almost one of the symbols, or the symbol, of the magnitude of the image of man bequeathed to the future by the Renaissance.
