A very scarce volume featuring the verse epistle by Alexander Pope. Illustrated with several plates throughout. In half calf binding with paper covered boards and endpapers. The volume begins with a history of Abelard and Elosia, and is followed by six letters between the pair, and then seven poems by the following poets: Mr. Pope, Mrs. Madan, Mr. Cawthorne, Mr. S. Birch, and Mr. Seymour. Illustrated with 6 plates throughout the volume. Collated complete. In a half calf binding. Externally sound, with the front board detached. Rear board is partially detached, held by a single cord. Rubbing to the spine, joints and extremities. Patches of rubbing to the front and rear boards. The front and rear hinges have failed.
