"The Life of Clara Barton" is a definitive and intimate biography of one of the most influential humanitarian figures in American history. Written by Percy Harold Epler, this work provides a comprehensive account of the woman famously known as the Angel of the Battlefield. The narrative traces Barton's extraordinary journey from her early career as a teacher to her heroic presence on the front lines of the American Civil War, where her tireless efforts to provide medical supplies and comfort to soldiers transformed the nature of field relief.

The biography delves into Barton's persistence in the face of bureaucratic obstacles and her eventual success in founding the American Red Cross. Epler explores her international influence, detailing her work during the Franco-Prussian War and her expansion of the Red Cross's mission to include disaster relief during peacetime. Through personal letters and records, the book captures Barton's indomitable spirit, her administrative brilliance, and her lifelong dedication to the service of others. "The Life of Clara Barton" serves as an essential record of a pioneering leader whose legacy continues to shape global humanitarian efforts and the nursing profession today.
