(Ringwood), and 5 other b/w illustrations as called for. Includes half title, and dedication page to Members of the Tiverton Hunt, and Preface. Engraved bookplate and red booksellers ticked (George T. Juckes & Co.) to front pastedown. Original publishers red cloth binding with gilt lettering and gilt Hound motif to spine. Binding a little dusty looking withe some fading to edges and spine. Corners slightly bumped with minor wear. Some wear to top and bottom spine edges, and black ink type mark to bottom of spine. Some offsetting to front free endpaper from bookplate on front pastedown. Scattered foxing to rear endpapers. The odd small mark to blank page edges of a few pages. Some gatherings starting to split, but sound, otherwise in good clean sound condition. Illustrations clean and bright looking. ** Loosely inserted 2 page hand written manuscript letter in ink. (222 x 170 mm). Paper watermarked, but difficult to read. Letter is dated 26.4.32. It was sent to Lt. Colonel H. A Cartwright ? From Maurice ? Sweetenham? There is an address at the top of the letter, The Kennels, Longford park, Bodenham, Salisbury, 26.4.32 . This may have been part of the Longford Castle estate? The contents includes references about the Kennels and hounds. Lord South? In mentions as the Duke of Grafton? Who had wanted to look at the hounds at the kennel….more research would be required to confirm the names mentioned in the letter and the location and owner of the kennel mentioned…. etc. ** The hound Ringwood is the principal subject of the story.
