Artikelbeschreibung des Verkäufers

The Life of George Brummell, Esq., Commonly Called Beau Brummell. By “Captain Jesse” and printed in London by Saunders and Otley. 1844, 1st edition, 2 volumes, 391 and 394 pp, 8.5” x 5.75”, 8vo, hardcover 3/4 leather. Overall very good. Light rubbing and wear to exteriors, primarily along edges and corners. Hinges remain in good condition, with minor wear adjacent to title page of Volume I. Text blocks remain bound well. Small section of publisher’s other volumes at rear of Volume II. General age-related toning to pages, along with periodic foxing and wear. Please see photographs and ask any questions prior to purchasing. A scarce 1st edition of the life of George “Beau” Brummell, a major fashion icon in Regency England and former close friend of the future King George IV. After going insane and dying in France, he was remembered both for his fashion sense and for his witty, notable quotations. COLH1844BMNB.
