Leather rich in color and remains soft. Light wear to extremities with minor scuffing to edges and corners. Front joint tender with minor cracking. Spine creased and slightly abraded. Minor wear to ends. Antiquarian ex-library plate on front pastedown. Fly is torn in half but remains intact. Heavy foxing to end papers with age stains. More moderate foxing throughout text with occasional age stains and minor instances of finger soiling. Free of known markings. Binding remains tight and intact. A sound book. Please see photos. Scarce edition, later printing. Black Hawk s narrative is one of the very few important American Indian autobiographies. In the Spring of 1832, Black Hawk and his band returned to and Indian village occupied by whites at the mouth of the Rock River in Illinois.
