In good condition. An attractive set! Beautifully bound leather boards show little to no wear. Raised bands are decorated with gilt work that remains bright and untarnished. Gorgeous marbled end papers remain vibrant and unmarked. Signed binding of Abbye Sainte Marie. Previous owner s name on front end page. Slightly toned frontis guard. Bindings are tight and intact. Nice! Please see photos. William Edward Forster was an English industrialist, philanthropist and Liberal Party statesman. His staunch advocacy of lethal force against the Land League earned hum the nicknames Buckshot Forster. He took a prominent part in parliament in the debates on the American Civil War, and in 1865 was made Under-Secretary of States for the Colonies in Lord John Russell s Ministry. COLH1888BFHB-variant.
