What is a limerick? The limerick is an erotic stanza, stronger than spirits, hotter than vice and a little less sensuous than the act of love. In this classic collection, one encounters the peoples of all nations in ribald and bawdy situations more enlightening than an x-rated movie. This book has one of the largest collctions of limericks in the world. Most are in English and some are in French, German and Latin. None have been edited and appear exactly as they were in the 1957 edition that was privately printed in Paris. An extensive bibliography and notes and variants are included to make this collection one of the rarest and zaniest of its kind. Classic limericks, however shocking in theme and language, have developed an aura of respectability. You'll find one or more that will titillate your spine and if you don't then certainly you'll be inspired to make up one of your own.
