Dauglish. From the Azalea Series, this book is believed to be the First Edition, published by the Church of England Temperance Society, London, 1907. 8vo, 19 cm x 13.2 cm x 3 cm, Red cloth-covered boards, Gilt & colour embossed lettering & decoration on spine & front cover, Black embossed decoration on back cover, no dust-jacket. 224 pages. Weight: 342 Grams. CONTENTS ARE MOSTLY LIKE NEW!!! However, there are several cracks between pages throughout starting from 1st endpaper, Frontispiece & 1st endpaper coming away at tail but still attached. Spine is almost faded to white, clean & sturdy, bumped & scuffed either end, gilt quite bright, decoration discoloured but fully visible. Cover is clean, discoloured in places, gilt & decoration very nice, edge wear. Corners are straight but slightly frayed. Outer edges slightly scratched, top one is age tanned. Splits in paper between front pastedown & endpaper. Ink annotation (name) on 1st endpaper. 3 pages have a small edge tear. Small piece missing from top corner of p. 101/102. Light age tanning & very rare foxing throughout, more pronounced on pastedowns & endpapers. VERY RARE TEMPERANCE BOOK, EXCELLENT CONDITION INSIDE!!!
