Inhaltsangabe: Who Will Help the Little Red Octopus Bake her Cake?
The creators of Sharky at the Mall of America have teamed up again to re-tell this classic folktale about the importance of helping. "Not I," says the lazy Blue Turtle. "Not I," says the fluttery Pink Puffer Fish. "Not we," say the sneaky Green Eels.
"Well done, Todd." - Elizabeth Van Steenwyk, Author of 70 children's books
"A really creative and fun book to help teach kids and grandkids about the power of pitching in to help in order to share - Rainbow Fish meets The Little Red Hen!" - Dan McCarthy, Harvard Business School '87
An adaptation of a well known nursery rhyme (The Little Red Hen), "The Little Red Octopus" is an exciting children's story about the importance of helping. Filled with humorous, quirky, colorful underwater portraits of all characters, "The Little Red Octopus" tells the story of how the Little Red Octopus requested help to make a plankton cake from her friends, the lazy blue Turtle, the fluttery pink Puffer Fish, and the two sneaky Green Eels. Each of the three friends declines to help the Little Red Octopus with each step of the plankton cake creation process. The characters of the three unhelpful friends are suggested in their expressive illustrations: The lazy blue Turtle is insipid and unmotivated, the fluttery pink Puffer Fish is vain and self preoccupied, and the two sneaky Green Eels are opportunistic and shifty. However, when the Little Red Octopus finally finishes baking and decorating her plankton cake and asks, "Who will help me eat the plankton cake?" a different response is heard from the three friends. Although each creature says "I will," (help eat the plankton cake) the Little Red Octopus answers them firmly: '"No....I will." And so she did... all by herself!' The funny final illustration shows the Little Red Octopus using all eight arms to hold six pieces of plankton cake plus a fork, a feat unique to the talents of an octopus! Thus the value of helping others when asked is underlined by this delightful reimagined undersea fable. Another title from this series that is also highly recommended is "The Little Red Octopus Finds a Helper."-- Midwest Book Review, March 2016
