Posted to a most inhospitable, sparsely populated, tsetse-fly infested regions, he nevertheless found a special appeal in this untamed wilderness. He saw opportunities for hunting, exploration and studying the primitive peoples. His is an excellent account of the solitary life, responsibilities and routines of a field administrator in the days when a Native Commissioner walked the length and breadth of his district in the course of his duties. A very good red hardback with gilt to spine having few miniscule marks in a near very good dustjacket, edge rubbed with shelf wear signs, mark on front and arepaired small tear.
