A very scarce and incredibly well-preserved original London Gazette newspaper article from August 1714, detailing the death of Queen Anne. Nicely rebound in cloth binding. A very scarce item.Queen Anne was born in 1665, and ruled England, Scotland, and Ireland from 1707 until her death in 1714. She is known for being the first monarch to rule officially the three kingdoms of England, Scotland, and Ireland, under the Acts of Union, and for her rule as a solo monarch. She is also known for her many health issues, and had seventeen failed pregnancies during the course of her life. This resulted in her reign being the last of the Stuart dynasty with the crown passing to King George I of Hanover.This work depicts her death from 'convulsion fits' and the subsequent meeting of the Lords of the Privy-Council to arrange the passing of the crown to King George I.A fascinating piece of history and a true window into London life during the early eighteenth century.Nicely rebound in cloth binding, with the newspaper itself protected by two pieces of parchment paper on either side. A prior owner's ink signature to the front free-endpaper, dated 1909. Rebound in full cloth binding, with gilt lettering to the front board. Externally, lovely, with just a little bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Prior owner's ink signature to the front free-endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. A small amount of spotting to the parchment papers and newspaper, which is nicely adhered to a piece of parchment paper. The newspaper is protected by two pieces of parchment paper on either side.
