Beschreibung
1936 reprint hardcover published one year after the first, in lightly spotted green cloth covered boards with black titles on spine and frt board, ruled black line on periphery of frt board. Not exlib. Spine ends and frt tips bumped with cloth broken on tips. Rear board tips are sharp. Book is somewhat cocked but should straighten out if properly weighted and stored. The 248 p text is crisp and clean without tears or names. The un-clipped (and un-priced) dj has small chips at periphery and flap folds, head of dj backstrip was evenly trimmed to show the title. It features an action drawing of a cowboy looking off to the left at another cowboy in the distance following him. The horse he is riding is galloping for all he's worth, with all four feet off the ground. "Our" cowboy has a passenger, a woman is riding double with him as they fly along the mesa. Displays well on the shelf. He was a figure of mystery, this Tex, almost sinister. He could ride like - well, he rode the man-killer, Rarin' John. He could draw and shoot as no law-abiding puncher should be able to. The look of lonely, dangerous trails was in his face, the weariness of the lone wolf was in his eyes, but the boy ranch owners trusted him and made him their friend. There came a time, very soon, when their trust was tested, when Black Tom and his lawless crew struck like a thunderbolt, when suspicious men hurled the charge of treachery at Tex. Then it was left for Tex to ride the vengeance trail alone. And the bitter hate borne out of the dark secret of Tex's past was pitted against the ruthless savagery and cunning of the outlawed killer.
