Terms of Sale
This page (together with our Terms of Use, and Privacy and Security Policy tells you information about Loudoun Books Ltd (“We” or “Us”) and the legal terms and conditions (Terms) on which we sell any of the products (Products) listed on ABEBooks to you.
These Terms will apply to any contract formed between us in accordance with clause 4.4 for the sale of Products to you (Contract). Please read these Terms carefully and make sure that you understand them before ordering any Products from Loudoun Books Ltd. Please note that by clicking on the button marked "Buy Now" you will be deemed to have read and agreed to be bound to these Terms. If you refuse to accept these Terms, you will not be able to order any Products from us.
You should print a copy of these Terms or save them to your computer for future reference.
We may amend these Terms from time to time as set out in clause 5. Every time you wish to order Products, please check these Terms to ensure you understand the terms which will apply at that time.
These Terms, and any Contract between us, are only in the English language.

1.1 We Trade on the ABEBooks websites and other online sales channels. Loudoun Books Ltd. are registered in Scotland under company number SC393567 and have our registered office at Hewbank Knowe, Sornhill, Galston, Ayrshire KA4 8NF. Our trading address is Hewbank Knowe, Sornhill, Galston, Ayrshire KA4 8NF.
1.2 To contact us for any reason please do so through the ABEBooks messaging system. If you unhappy with the Products or the service you have received, we are keen to hear from you.
2 Our products
2.1 The images of the Products on ABEBooks sites are of the individual item being sold. Electronic equipment may cause slight colour variations and the Products may therefore vary slightly from those images.
2.2 The images are an integral part of the description so please study them closely.
2.3 All Products shown on ABEBooks sites are also advertised for sale elsewhere. We do our utmost to keep stock levels current, normally within 24 hours. In the unlikely event that a single Product sells on one sales channel and then another, we will honour the first sale.3 How we use your personal information
3.1 We only use your Personal Information in accordance with our Privacy and Security Policy. Please take the time to read our Privacy and Security Policy, as it includes important terms which apply to you.
3.2 Save as may be varied by our Privacy and Security Policy, we will in any case use the Personal Information you provide to us to:
a. supply you with the Products you have purchased from us;
b. process your payment for such Products4 How the contract is formed between you and us
4.1 ABEBooks order process allows you to check and amend any errors before submitting your order. Please take the time to read and check your order at each page of the order process.
4.2 After you place an order, you will receive an e-mail from ABEBooks acknowledging that your order has been received. However, please note that this does not mean that your order has been accepted. Our acceptance of your order will take place as described in clause 4.3.
4.3 We will confirm our acceptance of your order to you by sending you an e-mail that confirms that the Products have been dispatched (Dispatch Confirmation). The Contract between us will only be formed when we send you the Dispatch Confirmation.
4.4 If we are unable to supply you with a Product you have ordered, for example because that Product is not in stock or no longer available, we will inform you of this by e-mail and we will not process your order. If you have already paid for the Products, we will refund you the full amount of the order price as soon as possible.5 Our right to vary these terms
5.1 We may revise these Terms from time to time in the following circumstances:
a. changes in how we accept payment from you;
b. changes in relevant laws and regulatory requirements; or
c. as we consider to be necessary in light of current trading and/or the general business environment, whether locally, nationally or internationally.
5.2 Every time you order Products from us, the Terms in force at that time will apply to the Contract between you and us.6 Events outside our control
6.1 We will not be liable or responsible for any failure to perform, or delay in performance of, any of our obligations under a Contract that is caused by an Event Outside Our Control. An Event Outside Our Control is defined below in clause 6.2.
6.2 An Event Outside Our Control means any act or event beyond our reasonable control, including without limitation strikes, lock-outs or other industrial action by third parties, civil commotion, riot, invasion, terrorist attack or threat of terrorist attack, war (whether declared or not) or threat or preparation for war, fire, explosion, storm, flood, earthquake, subsidence, epidemic or other natural disaster, or failure of public or private telecommunications networks or impossibility of the use of railways, shipping, aircraft, motor transport or other means of public or private transport.
6.3 If an Event Outside Our Control takes place that affects the performance of our obligations:
a. we will contact you as soon as reasonably possible to notify you; and
b. our obligations will be suspended and the time for performance of our obligations will be extended for the duration of the Event Outside Our Control. Where the Event Outside Our Control affects our delivery of Products to you, we will arrange a new delivery date with you after the Event Outside Our Control is over.- Information about us

Die Widerrufsfrist beträgt vierzehn Tage ab dem Tag, an dem Sie oder ein von Ihnen benannter Dritter, der nicht der Beförderer ist, die letzte Ware oder die letzte Teilsendung bzw. das letzte Stück in Besitz genommen haben bzw. hat.

Wenn Sie diesen Vertrag widerrufen, haben wir Ihnen alle Zahlungen, die wir von Ihnen erhalten haben, einschließlich der Lieferkosten (mit Ausnahme der zusätzlichen Kosten, die sich daraus ergeben, dass Sie eine andere Art der Lieferung als die von uns angebotene, günstigste Standardlieferung gewählt haben), unverzüglich und spätestens binnen vierzehn Tagen ab dem Tag zurückzuzahlen, an dem die Mitteilung über Ihren Widerruf dieses Vertrags bei uns eingegangen ist. Für diese Rückzahlung verwenden wir dasselbe Zahlungsmittel, das Sie bei der ursprünglichen Transaktion eingesetzt haben, es sei denn, mit Ihnen wurde ausdrücklich etwas anderes vereinbart; in keinem Fall werden Ihnen wegen dieser Rückzahlung Entgelte berechnet. Sie tragen die unmittelbaren Kosten der Rücksendung der Waren. Sie müssen für einen etwaigen Wertverlust der Waren nur aufkommen, wenn dieser Wertverlust auf einen zur Prüfung der Beschaffenheit, Eigenschaften und Funktionsweise der Waren nicht notwendigen Umgang mit ihnen zurückzuführen ist.
Ausnahmen vom Widerrufsrecht
Das Widerrufsrecht besteht nicht bzw. erlischt bei folgenden Verträgen:
- Zur Lieferung von Zeitungen und Zeitschriften oder Illustrierten, mit Ausnahme von Abonnement Verträgen;
- Bei der Lieferung digitaler Inhalte, die nicht auf einem körperlichen Datenträger (z.B. einer CD oder DVD) geliefert werden, wenn Sie dem Beginn der Ausführung vor der Bestellung ausdrücklich zugestimmt und zur selben Zeit bestätigt haben, dass mit der Ausführung begonnen werden kann und Sie Ihr Widerrufsrecht verlieren, sobald die Ausführung begonnen hat.

1.1 We do not make a profit on Postage and Packaging prices.
1.2 Postage prices displayed on the ABE website are estimates only.
1.3 Estimated prices are based upon a 1kg package, 35 x 25 x 10cms in size.
1.4 We therefore reserve the right to change the postage price.
2 UK Postage Charges
2.1Postage is free for UK purchases using standard delivery
2.2If the purchased item is under 2Kg using selecting the Standard delivery option, we generally use Royal Mail 48 for delivery.
1.3 Purchases selecting the Priority delivery option will generally be sent using Royal Mail Special Delivery by 13:00.3 Delivery
3.1 Please note that timescales for delivery and delivery charges will vary depending on the service selected and your address. Please allow for extra time for international deliveries.
3.2 We will use reasonable endeavours to fulfil your order by the estimated delivery date. If we are unable to meet the estimated delivery date (where there is an Event Outside Our Control for example), we will contact you with a revised estimated delivery date.
3.3 Delivery will be completed when we deliver the Products to the address you gave us. We shall not be liable for delays or other disadvantages to the Customer, which result from an incorrect address being supplied at the time of order.
3.4 If no one is available at your address to take delivery, the carrier should either leave you a note that the Products are being held securely by the carrier, in which case, please contact the carrier in the manner provided on the undelivered note to rearrange delivery, or the Products may be left by our carrier with a neighbour or elsewhere in a discreet and secure place which should be notified to you by the carrier at the time of delivery.
3.5 If we are not able to deliver the whole of your order at one time due to the size of the order, we may deliver the order in instalments. We will not charge you extra delivery costs for this. However, if you ask us to deliver your order in instalments, we may charge you extra delivery costs. Each instalment shall constitute a separate contract governed by these Terms. If we are late delivering an instalment or one instalment is faulty, that will not entitle you to cancel any other instalment.
3.6 The Products will be your responsibility from the completion of delivery.
3.7 You will own the Products only once we have received payment in full, including all applicable delivery charges for the full order made by you.4 International delivery
4.1 We deliver to most countries in the world. However, there are delays associated with delivery outside of the UK that are beyond our control.
4.2 All overseas deliveries will be sent fully insured. This cost will be borne by you.
4.3 If you order Products from us for delivery to an International Delivery Destination, your order may be subject to import duties and taxes which are applied when the delivery reaches that destination. Please note that we have no control over these charges, and we cannot predict their amount.
4.4 You will be responsible for payment of any such import duties and taxes. Please contact your local customs office for further information before placing your order.
4.5 You must comply with all applicable laws and regulations of the country for which the Products are destined. We will not be liable or responsible if you break any such law.- Displayed Delivery Prices
