Very good hardcover; the jacket (in good condition) is sunned and edgeworn; chipped portions reinforced and repaired tears to the lower half of the spine and front spine side / lower edge. The jacket is plastic protected. Hardcover a little worn with faint marks and scores on the boards. Foxing on the page block and mostly on the opening and closing pages. First edition. Hardcover. Very good in original publisher's cloth. Ink signature of E.H. Bensley and ink stamp of No. 14 General Hospital R.C.A.M.C. (C.A.S.F). on front free endpaper. Black ink mark at top corner of front free endpaper. Front board slightly stained. An otherwise tight, clean and unmarked copy. Edward Horton Bensley (1906-1995) was director of the Montreal General Hospital's Department of Metabolism and Toxicology, taught biochemistry, medicine and experimental medicine and lat er became Vice-Dean of McGill's Faculty of Medicine. During the Second World War, he served with No. 14 Canadian General Hospital with the rank of major.
