Inhaltsangabe: Closeted Hollywood action movie superstar John Hamilton has a secret, and he needs the perfect trophy wife to help cover it up. Xanax-popping has-been actress Jenna Wells needs a miracle. After a string of bad PR moves and even worse movies, Jenna is out of work and out of money —making her perfect for John’s scheme—she’s a woman with nothing to lose. A contractual obligation is born and Jenna gets her second chance at fame. John's double life is meticulously planned and concealed by the Association, a cult-like religious group made up of the Hollywood elite. The Association has the ability to make and break careers, forcing Jenna to play the part of the perfect fiancée or be obliterated by the Hollywood machine. Will Jenna take the money? Or will she follow her heart?
From the Back Cover:
Jenna Wells sat nervously in her car with the air conditioning going full blast, trying not to sweat through her very last dry-cleaned blouse. She could feel the sweat beading up in her armpits, so she quickly dabbed at it with some leftover napkins from Starbucks. She couldn't do anything about the boob sweat or the back-fat sweat at this point, but at least her armpits were taken care of for now.
She frantically fanned her blouse, trying to get some airflow going on. She had taken three Xanax and a Bupropion an hour before, but they didn't seem to be doing much good. Now she just felt tired and sweaty and nervous. Must be the global warming.
She wasn't sure why she was nervous. Considering she already knew she wasn't going to get this part. She was almost 34. Which is, like, 95 in actress years. Actress years are somewhere between gay men years and dog years on the long-term scale of aging. And her last movie that made any money was already two years old. She was clearly en-route to Tampax commercials and guest spots as "Victim #4" on Law & Order. Any "starring" role at this point would be a long shot. Jenna was, in short, a very mediocre has-been. People still recognized her from time to time, but they had to think about from where. They confused her with other brunette actresses they'd seen in late-night Lifetime movies about affairs and murdered husbands. Occasionally, they recognized her from reruns of her television show.
