An early edition 'Lucrece' written by the dramatic poet Francois Posard Francois Posard (1814-1867), was the head of the school of common sense which held the balance between classic and romantic. His first play Lucrece, played in 1843, obtained a great success and was crowned by the Academy, he gave Charlotte Corday in 1850, Honor and Silver in 1853, The Lion in love in 1866. Beaten to the Academy by Ernest Legouvé he was elected March 22, 1855, replacing Louis-Pierre-Baour Lormian, Emile Augier has withdrawn before him, and Désiré Nisard received, December 4, 1856. In a half morocco binding with marbled boards. Externally, firmly bound, bright and clean with ink inscriptions to the half title and a hand written label tipped into one of the front blanks.
