Bickers and Bush, London, 1854, first edition; small 8vo, 115 x 175mm; pp x, [iv], 298; publisher's green cloth carrying a blind embossed pattern in the form of a lyre ina floral surround, (bound by Bone & Son, London, and with their label on the back inner cover), spine titled gilt; corners lightly bumped, head of spine a little frayed, spine darkened and dulled through exposure; internally clean, other than for some light foxing, firm, and almost entirely unopened. . . . Leakey was born in Exeter but lived in Tasmania between 1848 and 1853, this volume drawing on her experiences there and published very shortly after her return to the UK.
