Original 8 1/2" x 11" for a Better Youth Organization (BYO) concert featuring hardcore punk band Minor Threat on April 2, 1983, at Roller Works in the San Fernando Valley. Other bands on the bill include Channel 3, Agression, Suicidal Tendencies, and America's Hardcore. BYO was a Los Angeles-based independent punk rock record label created by Shawn and Mark Stern, two of the three brothers in the California punk rock band Youth Brigade. Their aim was to promote punk in a better light. BYO began as a punk fanzine in 1981 aimed at tackling the issues of police brutality and the negative views towards punks and the punk scene. Minor Threat was an American hardcore act formed in Washington, D.C. in 1980 that disbanded in 1983. Though relatively short-lived, the band had a strong influence on the hardcore scene. Their song "Straight Edge" became the anthem of the straight edge movement, which emphasized a lifestyle without alcohol or other drugs, or promiscuous sex. Photomechanically reproduced on yellow lightweight card stock, with minor creases from folds, light stains, and tiny pin holes at the corners. Offered with a variant printing on black lightweight card stock.
