By Giles Jacob, (baptised 22 November 1686 8 May 1744), a British legal writer and literary critic. This was his last work. Chapters include 'Of the laws relating to marriage, bastardy, infants, ideots, lunaticks' and 'Of publick offences, treason, murder, felony, burglary, robbery, rape, sodomy, forgery, perjury, etc, and their punishment'. With previous owner's ink inscription to rear free endpaper of one John McBride. In a calf binding. Externally, sound with slight cracking to joints.
