A moving tribute to Marilyn Monroe, showing her life in photographs taken by Andre de Dienes, and her growth into the blonde bombshell icon. He became entranced by her, shooting a series of pin-up shorts of her at Tobay's Beach in Long Island. After Marilyn announced to him that she wanted to become an actress, Dienes took her on a road trip to photograph her across the natural landscapes of America. These photographs became widely printed and help to start her career. They met a few other times for photographs across her career in 1946, 1952, and 1953, their last meeting being in June 1961, a year before Marilyn's early death. This volume and Dienes' photography shows a touching and intimate look at Norma Jeane's journey to becoming Marilyn. The photographs begin with young Norma Jeane and her natural curly brown hair, transitioning throughout the volume into the blonde bombshell pop culture icon.Edited by Steve Crist and Shirley T. Ellis de Dienes. In the original publisher's decorative silk boards. Externally, smart. Some marks to the rear board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
