Inhaltsangabe: If you love helping students discover the magic of mathematics, this fresh, innovative, approach is just what you're looking for. Mathemagical Showtime links kids’ natural love of magic tricks with important concepts of patterns and functions. This high-quality program gets results because it sparks interest while it supports understanding.

Mathemagical Showtime is a resource book for teachers, parents, and tutors. It includes dozens of mind-boggling number magic tricks and stunts, along with guidelines for helping students discover the math behind the magic.

Since the tricks can be analyzed at different levels of abstraction, the book is appropriate for students ages 10-13 (grades 5-7).

The 148-page book includes 47 reproducible pages for use in the classroom or at home.

About the Author: Carl Sherrill, M.A., has been a teacher for more than 30 years. He also conducts classes for gifted children and serves as a mentor teacher and teacher inservice instructor. He has researched students’ problem-solving behavior by visiting numerous classrooms to observe math lessons in progress, and by interviewing students and their teachers.

Carl lives in Calistoga, California, with his wife, Kristin Casey, and five cats. He is a musician, a backpacker, and a veteran of eight European bicycle tours.

Carl is the author of two other innovative math resources:

RiddleMath: Using Student-Written Riddles to Build Mathematical Power
