A smart Modern Library edition of Young's fascinating history of the powerful Italian banking family and political dynasty, the Medicis. The first Modern Library edition of this work in the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. In his preface, author Colonel G. F. Young explains that 'there are in English several histories of three or four of the more important members of the Medici family; but there is none, either in Italian or English, of that family as a whole, the history of no less than nine out of thirteen generations having remained hitherto unwritten'. In this work, he provides that compelling history of one of the most notorious political dynasties. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is very smart, with the odd faint mark to the front board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean except for a scattering of spots to the fore edge, not affecting the pages.
