Artikelbeschreibung des Verkäufers

When one visits Melrose Abbey it becomes quite evident that a magnificent cathedral can be just as imposing and beautiful in ruin as it was during its vitality. This is a rare pamphlet guide book from 1879 titled "Melrose Abbey: Notes Descriptive and Historical" by Margaret Fairbairn of Abbey Lodge, Melrose. It is the Third Edition, Revised, and survives in its original printed wraps. The pamphlet was printed at the Southern Reporter Office in Selkirk. This seems to be the only copy of the 1879 edition being offered on line. Small pamphlet; Contains one ground plan; 20 pages; 4" x 6 3/8", gray printed wraps, sewn. The publisher printed a small triangular device depicting a winged dragon on the front cover. 136 years old. CONDITION : This is a previously owned book that remains in decent antiquarian condition, clean and presentable, with the following particulars noted: EXTERIOR : Loss to the bottom front fore-edge corner; other corner tips only mildly bumped; a few small round stains or discolorations display on the front; there are various scattered small nicks to the edges. The binding thread remains secure. The rear cover displays some mild surface rumpling, and a tiny bit of loss to the bottom fore-edge tip. There is a tiny discoloration on the fore-edge near the top. INTERIOR : There are a few tiny discolorations at the fore-edges of a few pages (near-negligible in effect). The bottom fore-edge tips of of the leaves are bumped, with the first few leaves displaying corner creasing. The first leaf (title page) has a tiny bit of loss to same. All in all a fragile bit of historical ephemera which has been nicely preserved.…
