18mo. 106 pp. Marbled boards backed in navy leather with gilt titling to spine. Boards and spine ends rubbed, corners bumped with boards exposed. Previous owner's ink notation to fpd. Lacking both front and rear free endpapers and front flyleaf, but all printed leaves are present. Foxing and soiling scattered throughout, heaviest to pds. A short biographical account of the young "Jack" Britt's sufferings as a deaf and mute child, his commitment to learning to communicate through "finger language," and his religious fervor under the guidance of the devout Charlotte Elizabeth, "the name by which she was known as an author of several books; but her real name was Mrs. Tonna.".
