Black cloth, red title and publisher plates on spine, 1104 pp., 4 BW plates. Volume one only of the two-volume set of this autobiography penned by Giacomo Casanova (1725-1798). This edition was translated into English by Arthur Machen, with an intro by Arthur Symons, and was edited and revised by Frederick A. Blossom. What makes this version unique are the illustrations supplied by American artist Rockwell Kent (1882-1971). Only four appear in this volume, and there's no mistaking who supplied them.
