A neat third edition of the memoirs of Sir Thomas Fowell Buxton, as edited by his son. Third edition. The memoir of Sir Thomas Fowell Buxton, an English Member of Parliament, brewer, abolitionist, and social reformer. He is remembered as a humanitarian politician and philanthropist. Upon Buxton's death in 1845, Prince Albert led a movement for a public tribute to his memory with a monument raised by public subscription at Westminster. Edited by Charles Buxton, this memoir soon passed into thirteen editions with translations into French and German. In the original half calf binding with patterned boards. Externally, smart with rubbing to the extremities and some wear to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with light age toning. Ink inscription to front endpaper.
