This is two volumes (January to June, 1870, and July to December, 1870) of the illustrated children's magazine, here bound in black boards with leather tips and spine; the owner's name of Frank W. Bent is printed on the front board. These two volumes of the magazine, which ran from 1841-1872, are notable for Louisa May Alcott's contributions, as an editor from circa 1868-1870, and as a contributor (in these volumes, the illustrated stories "Becky's Christmas Dream" and "Ripple," and the poem "The Nautilus"). The owner's name in pencil on the front endpaper, else unmarked; spine slant; half of the title page is missing; age-toning to the pages; heavy wear to the corners and edges of the boards.
