Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book is not a tale of star-crossed lovers, nor is it brimming with adventure on the high seas. It is, however, quite the adventure and quite the love story, just in a different way - a hilarious and heartwarming way. This book follows the misadventures of Mr. Gamaliel Pickle, a man drawn kicking and screaming into the world of matrimony after a lifetime of bachelorhood. Mrs. Grizzle, his meddling but well-intentioned sister, determines he should marry, and sets her sights on Miss Sally Appleby, a woman of some means and good family, as his match. After a less than romantic courtship consisting entirely of one businesslike letter from Mr. Pickle himself, the couple are wed. The story that follows is filled with hilarious mishaps and laugh-out-loud characters, but it also delves into the complexities of relationships, familial obligations, and societal expectations in a way that is both insightful and entertaining. Anyone who has ever dreaded an arranged marriage, endured the meddling of well-meaning but misguided family members, or simply wants a good laugh will enjoy this book.
