Mother Said: Poems. Dieser Artikel ist nicht verfügbar.Mother Said: Poems

For anyone who has ever had a mother - and that includes most of us - or is a mother (one way or another), Hal Sirowitz's poetry speaks the truth. About families, about relationships. Written in mother vernacular, these poems have the ring of adult nursery rhymes, with a tinge of horror and a ton of humor. Think Philip Larkin inspired by Norman Bates, or the Brothers Grimm of pop poetry. Think, think, think ... of your own mother. Or, if you are a mother, think of yourself Sirowitz's poems are deceptively simple, achingly familiar, brutally funny. Mother Said is the Mother of all poetry. Read it and laugh. Read it and weep.

Hal Sirowitz's poems have been published in several magazines, anthologies, and chapbooks. This spring's publication of Mother Said marks the first complete collection of his poetry.

He lives in Queens, New York, and teaches special education in the New York City Public Schools.
