Inhaltsangabe: Oliver Cromwell's army invaded Ireland and took the lands of the O'Kennedys of Tipperary with forces far superior to those the O'Kennedys could muster. Then, in 1652, he banished the former O'Kennedy landowners to the barren areas of Connacht. The penalty for not transplanting from Tipperary to Connacht was death. To Hell or to Connacht became the catch-cry. The rebellious spirit of the O'Kennedys was alive and well. Some of the dispossessed O'Kennedys chose not to go either to Hell or to Connacht but to stay put in Tipperary where they went south into the mountain wilderness where Cromwell's soldiers dared not follow. This book identifies Kennedyfamilies and other related families who have been living in the mountainous areas for several hundred years. It then attempts to identify where these stayput Kennedys originated and who their ancestors may have been. The Mountainy Kennedys - Tipperary Stayputs is a sequel to Brian Patrick Kennedy's first book The Irish Kennedys - The Story of the Rebellious O'Kennedys, now in its second edition. As a companion volume The Mountainy Kennedys - Tipperary Stayputs links present day Kennedys and their relatives not only in Tipperary but all around the world with those Kennedy landholders of 1652 who showed enormous courage and determination in staying put in Tipperary in the face of death.
