SCARCE. Presumed FIRST EDITION. Exhibition catalog / album of Japanese Noh masks carved by husband and wife team Yuisei and Yuishu Mori, published for the1984 New York exhibition. Includes photos and bio of the artists. Introduction by Masaharu Gotoda, Chief of Cabinet Secretariat; photos by Fumio Dodo. Book is arranged with crisp bright photo pasted on left, and description on right; text is in English and Japanese. Classic Japanese/oriental binding with 2 deep purple ribbons, each with 3 knots, yet book opens from the right (Western binding). Boards are covered in floral print fabric that's tan on purply-brown metallic background. Title on cover is Japanese calligraphy on special paper, pasted on fabric.Inside pages are a sturdy, quality parchment, bound in the Japanese style of folded leaves; pages are clean. Title page has barely perceptible crease legnthwise on title page; book is o/w free of creasing, including at binding and feels unread. Overall in near fine condition; cover perimeters are faded, although it all may be faded from an original been blue.
