Inhaltsangabe:
This book shows how to use Visual Studio 2008, ADO.NET 3.5, and the new LINQ and Entity Framework features to develop database applications. After an introduction to ADO.NET programming, sections cover using data sources and datasets for rapid application development, three-layer Windows Forms applications, using LINQ, and using the Entity Framework. To show how all of the pieces of a database application interact, content is based on 23 complete applications, ranging from simple to complex, with exercises guiding readers through development and enhancement of the applications. All of the information is presented in paired pages, with the essential syntax, guidelines, screenshots, and code examples on the right page and explanations and context on the left page. A companion web site provides the database and files used for the book's applications and exercises, plus starting points for all of the exercises. Although the book assumes that readers already know basics of Visual Basic programming, readers don't need any previous database programming experience. Information on the author is not given.
