Inhaltsangabe: Sam Marlowe, a 1930s P.I., investigates a mysterious death in the Okefenokee Swamp. When Matthew McQueen is accused of the murder of Jim Ferguson, his employer, Harlan Elliot, hires Sam Marlowe to try and establish his innocence. Sam finds himself in a quandary as he deals with moonshiners and the Ku Klux Klan. A trip into the depths of the swamp could cost him his life. There he meets a mysterious character that could very well be Ferguson's killer. But his venture into the swamp also reveals that a syndicate may be operating one of the biggest moonshine stills in existence. Can Sam Marlowe establish the innocence of Matthew McQueen before the Ku Klux Klan lynches him? Based on a true story.

Über den Autor: William V. Reynolds is the son of a sharecropper from South Georgia. His early years were spent in a transition period--not quite primitive, not quite modern. As a result, he has first-hand knowledge of farming with a mule, picking corn by hand, harvesting cotton and tobacco, killing and dressing meat, and a host of other things that one learns growing up in a rural community. After graduating from college, he began his career as a mathematics teacher and later earned masters and education specialist degrees. Throughout the years, he has also worked as a movie projectionist, theater manager, shipping clerk, truck driver, and minister. Since retiring he has been writing historical fiction because he gets to speculate on what life might have been like for the people of a given era. He enjoys reading history, not as dry facts, but about the people who made it happen. A friend of his used to say: History is not dates and places. It s people. If you want to study history, study the people who made it. William is now working on his fourteenth manuscript. William has six novels that have been published since 2000 which include a historical fiction trilogy based on his oral family history River Pilot, Hard Times, and Call of the Pines. Project Messiah is considered to be a science fiction/religious account of the possible coming of the antichrist. A country preacher deals with sin in the guise of adultery, arson, and murder in this page turner called Circuit Rider which is also historical fiction. A homeless man adopts a dog while traveling across the across the country to keep a date with destiny in the adventure Life with Charlie a must read for all animal lovers, especially dogs. In addition to writing, William also teaches writing courses at John Campbell Folk School and also conducts seminars for writers groups. He is available for speaking and/or book signings at civic, church, library, and historical groups, etc. In 2004 Reynolds was inducted into the Authors of the Round Table by The BookShop in South Georgia. In 2002 he was recognized in Who s Who in U.S. Writers, Editors & Poets, a Biographical Dictionary of the most influential writers, authors, and poets of the 20 th Century and promising, noteworthy writers of the 21st century who through a combined goal have influenced thought through words. He has traveled extensively throughout the United States. One of his books is a travelogue based on a trip that he and his wife took through the Western U. S. In 2006, he traveled with a group from our church, First Baptist McCaysville/Copperhill, on a mission trip to Jamaica. He visited Honduras with the Christian Children s Fund in 2002. A brief visit into Mexico in 1986 carried our family into Juarez. He says, There s nothing more relaxing than drifting down a lazy river while flipping a bug under the bushes. Large bream and redbreast lay there waiting to play tug-of-war with the angler who has the patience to wait. William and his wife are active members of First Baptist Church McCaysville/Copperhill
