TWO WORKS bound in one volume, the first in German in1770, the second in Latin from the same publisher in 1771, FIRST EDITIONS. 4to, approximately 280 x 210 mm, 11 x 8¼ inches, the first item printed in black letter, the second in roman, pages: [3], 4-12; [3], 4-11, including 2 title pages, the first with 'No.274' in ink in top corner, plus one large folding hand coloured plate. Bound in 19th century marbled paper, no label or lettering. Spine strengthened with binder's cloth, edges of covers slightly worn and corners slightly creased, 1 neatly strengthened on reverse, occasional faint spot to contents. A good copy. The author addresses the Latin version of his German monograph to Linnaeus. The animal-plant in question is nowadays classified as an animal: a species of the phylum cnidaria or coelenterata.
