A fascinating pictorial and artistic resource. . *** THE GOAL OF THE VIET CONG TO ILLUSTRATED ITS WAR EFFORTS AGAINST THE AMERICANS: . This excellent set of drawings and paintings were created as a form of "artistic resistance." The sets being printed with introduction and list of plates in various foreign languages was to educate the outside world to the "Heroic Resistance" of the common North Vietnamese people in a united effort against the South Vietnamese Government and the American supporters. . Artists living in North Vietnam were "invited" to graphically illustrate the patriotic efforts of the northern Vietnamese in their resistance against the south. There are excellent examples of talented artists, applying their skills to the war effort. Many are quite finely executed, reminiscent of and influenced by the old "Chinese School of traditional brush style" painting. . Some French turn-of-the century influence also evident while others show a pure native and uniquely Vietnamese style. Some of the artists may have been former students at the Ha-Noi L'Ecole Superieure Des Beaus-Arts De L'indochine Painters of the Fine Arts College of Indochina. . Each example is superbly executed, an excellent group of fine examples of fine Vietnamese painting, sketching, oil & gouache painting technique. . *** Color scans are posted to our website. . *** RARITY: This complete set is seldom found intact with all plates, with the portfolio cover in such excellent condition, . The set was commonly broken up and sold as separate plates individually. . *** CONDITION: Generic: Each portfolio is a single stiff sheet, with folded cover and three folded sides, containing the loose plates. There is some usual wear to the edges, folds, corners, some have been reinforced in the distant past with brown Kraft paper tape to the hinges or other areas. The portfolios are now very firm & solid. . The plates are pristine, no damage or issues. Clean and bright, no fading. About as good as it. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 21020103
