Very rare map from the 1841 Report of the Perkins Institute for the Blind. Report not present here. Published as an example of printing for the blind, there is no ink used, only raised printing. The map identifies Nantucket, Tuckanuck (Tuckernuck) Island, Vineyard Sound and the Atlantic Ocean. It also shows Chappaquiddick Island and the eastern point of Martha's Vineyard. Though the map?s detail is severely limited by the crude nature of the printing, it is an extremely rare and interesting Nantucket map. Not in Crosby, Nantucket in Maps.
